A report reveals that state-sponsored Chinese hackers infiltrated more than 400 computers at the US Treasury Department, focusing on devices used by personnel dealing with sanctions, international affairs, and intelligence. They accessed employee credentials and approximately 3,000 unclassified files, including sensitive policy documents. While there is no evidence they gained access to classified systems, they were attributed to a group known as Silk Typhoon, which executed the breach between late September and mid-November 2024.
