Chinese independent journalist Huang Xueqin, known for her involvement in gender and human rights issues as a leader in the Chinese MeToo movement, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for attending regular gatherings and using overseas communication tools. Along with labor activist Wang Jianbing, who received a 3.5-year sentence, they were arrested in 2021 and charged with 'inciting subversion of state power.' After more than two years in detention, they were sentenced today (6/14).
