A retired Chinese mainland naval captain drove a speedboat that intruded into a Taiwan wharf in Danshui, causing astonishment among locals. In response, the Coast Guard Bureau announced plans to invest and utilize three major technological instruments to address the difficulty of identifying unknown and unidentifiable threats. The Coast Guard Bureau emphasized the importance of public support against mainland provocations, with efforts to enhance surveillance through technology like radar coupled with infrared thermal imaging cameras and the deployment of drones for comprehensive land and sea patrols, as well as urging the installation of AIS systems on local fishing boats for easier identification.
