In Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, a Chinese man attacked a Japanese mother and child waiting for a school bus with a knife, and attempted to board the bus to continue the assault. A female teacher onboard who tried to stop him also suffered severe injuries. The incident raised concerns, especially as it occurred shortly after a similar attack on American teachers in Jilin on June 10. Speculations on the attacker's motive possibly being related to anti-Japanese sentiment have emerged, prompting Japanese government intervention to ensure the safety of Japanese residents in China.
