A Chinese man named Ruan was caught attempting to smuggle into Taiwan by driving a small speedboat through the Tamsui River, claiming he was seeking freedom but the true motivation for the illegal entry remains unclear. After questioning by the Shilin District Prosecutors' Office on June 17th, Ruan was arrested and court approved his detention and isolation due to significant suspicion of violating laws related to relations between Taiwan and mainland China as well as immigration, with concerns of escape and tampering of evidence. The prosecutors emphasize thorough investigation to ensure national security and will provide necessary updates according to investigative regulations. Ruan expressed no regrets about coming to Taiwan when questioned.
