On June 9, a Chinese man surnamed Ruan drove a speedboat into Taiwan's Tamsui River, claiming to be 'seeking freedom,' raising concerns about national security. The incident led to disciplinary actions against 10 Taiwan Coast Guard officers, including the Northern Region Commander Liao De-sheng, for failing to intercept the vessel in time. The Coast Guard aims to enhance border security by improving technology, training personnel, and urging rational responses to China's gray-zone tactics and psychological warfare.
