Coast Guard Director Zhang Zhonglong, along with other officials, addressed the incident where a Chinese man surnamed Ruan drove a speedboat into Tamsui River. The Coast Guard admitted to 2 major oversights, including radar operators failing to dispatch patrol boats in time and the failure of Bali Inspection Station to promptly report and intercept. As a result, 10 individuals, including the director of the Northern Division and radar operators, were disciplined. The Coast Guard plans to improve procedures for enhanced vigilance following the incident.
