Chinese Man Drives Speedboat into Tamsui River, Lands at Fisherman's Wharf! Former Instances of Cross-Border Infringement by Mother Ship

Reported 10 months ago

On June 10, 2024, a Chinese man surnamed Ruan drove a speedboat into the Tamsui River and successfully landed at Fisherman's Wharf, sparking controversy. Investigation revealed that Ruan initially traveled from Fuzhou, China on a mother ship before illegally crossing into Taiwanese waters with a speedboat. This incident is not the first example of a Chinese mother ship infringing upon Taiwanese maritime territory. When intercepted, Ruan claimed he made the journey due to restrictions imposed for speaking against China, leading to his subsequent arrest by Taiwanese authorities.
