On June 9th, a Chinese man named Ruan drove a speedboat from China into the Danshui River, causing a collision with other vessels. Despite claiming to surrender to Taiwan, the Shilin District Prosecutor's Office ruled his entry as a violation of the law, obtaining a court order to detain him due to the risk of collusion, escape, and involvement in serious immigration offenses. This marks the second case of mainland Chinese attempting to illegally enter Taiwan this year, with National Security prosecutors investigating the incident for further details on Ruan's motives.
