On June 10, 2024, at 9:55 pm, a Chinese boat crossed the median line in the strait and directly entered the mouth of the Tamsui River to the 'Ferry Pier,' with our coastal patrol radar locking on only 6 nautical miles later, raising concerns about a loophole in maritime defense and the capital security. Premier Chiu-Rong-Tai stated that they have initiated judicial and administrative investigations to clarify responsibility and issue punishments. He emphasized the importance of strengthening defense measures immediately, stating that 'national security cannot be neglected for a single second.'
