On June 26, 2024, reports surfaced that Chinese state media were involved in the production of political talk shows in Taiwan, with Chinese journalists monitoring activities in studios. The Culture Ministry and Mainland Affairs Council have both stated they will investigate these claims. The Chinese Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson dismissed the reports as 'fake news' and urged Taiwan's government not to obstruct or disrupt normal news exchange cooperation between the two sides. The Mainland Affairs Council responded with three points, emphasizing government support for normal news exchanges between the two sides and clarifying the regulations for Chinese journalists stationed in Taiwan regarding their activities.
