A Chinese national was arrested on June 9 after speeding a boat into the mouth of the Tamsui River and being apprehended at Fisherman's Wharf in Taiwan. The Coast Guard's enforcement process came under scrutiny for errors, leading to disciplinary actions for 10 officials, including the head of the northern branch, Liao Desheng, and inspector Lei Caoshou, ranging from reprimands to demerits. Chairperson of the Ocean Affairs Council, Kuan Bi-ling, admitted human error rather than equipment failure led to the incident's mishandling. Further inquiries led to disciplinary actions for those responsible for the 30-minute oversight in the incident, involving radar and watchtower misjudgments.
