On June 20, 2024, the Ministry of National Defense disclosed that a large number of Chinese military aircraft and ships have been detected near Taiwan's air defense identification zone. Between June 20th and 21st, a total of 36 Chinese military aircraft and 7 ships were identified, with some flying as close as 40 nautical miles to Taiwan. The Ministry of National Defense stated that they are closely monitoring and responding to these activities.
