On June 10, 2024, at 5:38 am, a Chinese national drove a speedboat into the Danshui Ferry Pier and was arrested by the Coast Guard for investigation. The man claimed he wanted to seek freedom and join the Republic of China. The Coast Guard handed him over to the Shilin District Prosecutors' Office to clarify his entry method and purpose in Taiwan. The man, who was cooperative during the arrest and questioning, had no illegal items on board. Prosecutors released him and the Coast Guard transferred him to the Immigration Office for repatriation arrangements.
