A Chinese national drove a speedboat into the Tamsui River, raising concerns about a major national security loophole. The Director of National Security Bureau, Tsai Ming-yan, mentioned that actions on coastal defense strategies and case clarification have been discussed in the National Security Council meeting. The Presidential Office spokesperson, Kuo Ya-hui, stated that the National Security team is fully aware of the situation and is discussing follow-up measures with relevant authorities. They have also reviewed and reinforced coastal radar installations, aerial and maritime patrols, identification of fishing vessels, and continuous personnel training to enhance maritime border security amid similar potential threats.
