On June 27, 2024, the Ministry of National Defense released an illustration of the activities of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in the sea and airspace around the Taiwan Strait. From June 27 to June 28, there were a total of 18 sightings of Chinese aircraft (with 17 crossing the median line of the strait into the northern and southwestern airspace) and 6 Chinese warships conducting operations in the vicinity. The defense ministry emphasized the close monitoring and response using reconnaissance aircraft, warships, and missile systems. Notably, four Chinese fighters and drones were spotted in the southwestern airspace, coming as close as 46 nautical miles to Kettle Top.
