On June 10, 2024, DPP legislator Chen Guan-ting spoke regarding a Chinese man who drove a speedboat into a restricted military zone in Tamsui River the previous morning. He urged the government to collaborate between coast guard, navy, and army to effectively prevent such incidents. Another DPP legislator, Wang Ting-yu, expressed concern that Chinese nationals coming to Taiwan in this manner could be considered a form of voting with their feet, yet emphasized the need for careful investigations by law enforcement and national security units. The man was caught by the coast guard and transferred to the prosecutor's office for detention. Chen emphasized the importance of interdepartmental cooperation and readiness in responding to potential provocations by China in various Taiwanese defense zones.
