On June 9, 2024, Chinese individuals used a livestreamed remote-controlled UAV to fly over Kinmen and deliver propaganda flyers, causing disturbance in the area. In response, DPP legislator Wang Ting-yu noted the likelihood of testing Taiwan's defense blind spots and urged for cautious measures against Chinese harassment. Wang emphasized the need to enhance detection, defense, and interception capabilities against commercial UAVs, which may be testing Taiwan's defenses for vulnerabilities. Taiwan's defense ministry reassured appropriate countermeasures against such threats, criticizing the negative impact on cross-strait relations caused by these actions. Wang reminded of the importance of prudently addressing Chinese provocations and the need to stay vigilant despite the seemingly harmless nature of the disruptions.
