During a press conference hosted by Deputy Mainland Affairs Council Minister Liang Wen-chieh, it was revealed that a Chinese journalist from Xinhua News Agency who was stationed in Taiwan and observed a local TV station had left in May after arriving in February, prompting a retrospective investigation. The Mainland Affairs Council is coordinating with other government agencies to investigate potentially judicial matters but has yet to announce any results. The Council clarified that restrictions on the journalist's departure could only be decided after a thorough investigation, and emphasized that there have been no restrictions on mainland Chinese journalists' freedom of speech in Taiwan.
