Mayor Cheng Sheng-ching of Taoyuan City presided over the municipal meeting on June 19, 2024, stating that Chungli Station became historical last Sunday as it was replaced by a temporary station. After the completion of the underground project in 2031, Taoyuan will move towards the next stage of railway underground development. The city will continuously promote various projects to improve the old urban environment and enhance Chungli's cityscape, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and modernize infrastructure in the area. City planning also includes upgrading pedestrian walkways, adding new YouBike rental stations, and enhancing the surroundings of the Chungli New Ming Market to revamp the district's appearance.
