CIB Invests $108.3 Million in Indigenous-Backed Wind Farm in Canada

The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) has committed C$108.3 million to support the construction of the 102.2MW Mesgi'g Ugju's'n 2 wind farm in Gespe'gewa'gi, marking the first Indigenous equity loan from the CIB. This project, a collaboration between the Mi'gmawei Mawiomi Business Corporation and Innergex Renewable Energy, aims to provide clean electricity to approximately 20,000 homes and reduce emissions significantly. Scheduled to begin operations in late 2026, the initiative will create local jobs and redirect profits back into the community.
