Citizen Watchdog Calls on Lai Ching-te to Declare Independent Constitution-Making, Criticizes Ma Ying-jeou and Chu Li-lun for Evading Clarity

Reported 12 months ago

On July 2, 2024, the controversy sparked by President Lai Ching-te's proposition of the 'two countries not subordinate to each other' between the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China has led to discussions about constitutionality. Chang Ya-chung, principal of the Sun Yat-sen School, expressed in the 'Citizen Watchdog' program that if Lai Ching-te advocates or implements Taiwan independence, he should publicly declare abolishing the current constitution and recreating one to uphold transparency and accountability. Additionally, criticism was directed towards both Ma Ying-jeou and Chu Li-lun for their unclear approach to cross-strait relations without providing concrete methods for achieving peace.
