The Civil Aviation Administration recently announced plans to trial sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on aircraft at Songshan and Taoyuan airports in the first half of next year. China Airlines, responding to the call for carbon reduction, will join the domestic SAF trial program by adding SAF operation to the Songshan-Haneda route starting in 2025. China Airlines has been proactive in promoting SAF since 2017 and became the first in Taiwan to pass the SBTi review in June, aligning with international sustainability trends. By implementing SBTi's guidelines and enhancing carbon reduction strategies, China Airlines aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and improve fuel efficiency by 26% by 2030 compared to 2019 levels.
