During a recent interview, Kuomintang Chairman Eric Chu clarified that the proposed amendment to the recall law is not related to the issue of raising the recall threshold. The amendment aims to have the recall vote exceed the number of votes in the election, not to increase the recall threshold to one-fourth of the total number of eligible voters in the original election district. Chu emphasized that the amendment is not targeting any individual or party and is intended to improve the existing system. Various opinions regarding the reasonableness of the recall system have arisen, including the discussion of whether the criteria for recalls should be based on a vote count exceeding the number of votes in the election. The issue will be further discussed in the legislature's Internal Affairs Committee public hearing.
