On July 4, the Legislative Yuan's Internal Affairs Committee meeting to review the amendment to the Public Officials Election and Recall Act was disrupted by conflicts between the blue and green camps, preventing the meeting from taking place. Vice Convener Huang Jin Sumei was blocked from entering the committee room, leading to the announcement of a change in meeting location in the corridor. Due to the disruption and physical discomfort, the meeting was adjourned. The situation escalated as the DPP seized control of the chairman's podium, resulting in physical clashes and chaos. Despite attempts to reconvene, no progress was made, and the meeting was ultimately adjourned with future plans for rescheduling. Former Legislator Guo Zhengliang provided insights on the incident, highlighting the alarming behavior that could have ensued if Huang Jin Sumei had been in better health.
