In Hsinchu, a cleaner surnamed Xiong was fined by the court for embezzling a lost item. Xiong found a lost iPhone belonging to a woman surnamed Lin while cleaning a restroom, kept it for herself, and denied the act during the trial. However, the judge deemed the evidence clear, sentencing Xiong to a fine of 13,000 NT and 13 days of community service. The stolen iPhone was also confiscated. Xiong's claim that she only visited a telecom store to unlock her own iPhone was refuted by the phone's location data matching her movements. The defendant has the right to appeal.
