A procession for the Clearwater Ancestral Master in Tamsui, New Taipei City, attracted over 5,000 participants from temples and performance groups, with tight security measures in place to prevent conflicts. Prior to the event, the police had arranged for the signing of an 'Action Covenant' with temple and performance group leaders, stationed troops at key locations, and swiftly dealt with any incidents on the day, including a youth brandishing a knife that caused panic among attendees. Despite occasional clashes, the event concluded safely with police ensuring order throughout. The tradition, representing local culture and heritage, saw a significant decrease in violent incidents in recent years due to increased cooperation between temples, performance groups, and law enforcement.
