Global University of Technology, founded 33 years ago, will shut down at the end of July with Yunlin County government taking over the campus and assets. The final graduation ceremony was held with 484 graduates and 159 faculty members. The founder, Xu Wen-zhi, was absent from the event, which was attended by alumni like KMT legislator Huang Ren. Despite the closure, efforts are being made to assist the 380+ current students with placements, with the county planning to transform the site into a talent cultivation base for industries like semiconductors and electric vehicles with a handover cost of around 620 million NTD.
