The Coast Guard Administration (CGA) held its first regular press conference today, revealing that an average of 4 Chinese coast guard ships operated outside the restricted waters of Kinmen each day in the first half of June, totaling 6 vessels. However, none of them entered Taiwanese waters. CGA emphasized the importance of technology in maritime surveillance to prevent misjudgments, proposing the 'Island Coastal Smart Monitoring System' combining radar with infrared cameras, expanding the unmanned aerial sea-air patrol mechanism, and advocating for the installation of AIS systems on all Taiwanese fishing vessels. The CGA also highlighted their joint surveillance efforts with the Ministry of National Defense to closely monitor maritime activities and respond promptly to any Chinese coast guard ships approaching Taiwanese waters.
