Coast Guard in Kinmen Busts Illegal Activities of Private Boats, Catching Trafficking of Mainland Chinese Mushrooms and Live Animals

On July 9, 2024, at 4:48 am, the Coast Guard Administration and Investigation Bureau uncovered a suspicious boat suspected of smuggling mushrooms and various live organisms into the country. The Coast Guard Administration, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice's Investigation Bureau Fujian Investigative Office, intercepted a vessel heading to Kinmen suspected of smuggling mainland Chinese mushrooms, fish, turtles, and other reptiles into the country. Following an investigation, a total of 475.92 kilograms of mainland Chinese mushrooms, 650 fish, 543 turtles, and 486 other reptiles were seized from the boat's compartments. The case has been handed over for legal action. The Coast Guard continues to crack down on smuggling to maintain national border security and economic order, urging the public to report any suspicious activities.
