In a tragic turn of events, a 22-year-old college student in Taichung's North District died in a collision with a civilian ambulance in March. Initially believed to be driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.54mg/l, further tests on eye fluid showed no alcohol present, clearing the deceased's name. Forensic expert Gao Dacheng explained that post-death bacterial growth in the body could lead to false alcohol readings in blood tests, emphasizing the accuracy of eye fluid tests. The student's mother expressed relief over her son's innocence being established. This case serves as a reminder of the complexities in alcohol testing, especially in post-mortem scenarios.
