A college student from Yuan Ze University in Taipei sparked controversy by bringing her pet gecko into a sushi restaurant, violating the establishment's rules and even placing the gecko on a soy sauce dish for a photo. Health experts warned that geckos may carry Salmonella bacteria, emphasizing the importance of good hand hygiene to prevent infection. Gecko-related diseases include Salmonella infection, E. coli infection, cryptosporidiosis, bacillus cereus infection, and campylobacteriosis. The incident of the gecko on the sushi plate has stirred discussion and raised concerns about hygiene practices.
