Colombian Inflation Accelerates

Reported about 1 year ago

Colombian inflation accelerated for the first time in 15 months, rising to 7.18% in June from a year earlier, slightly higher than expected. The government, seeking faster interest rate cuts to boost economic growth, faces challenges as consumer prices went up. Core inflation excluding food prices slowed to 7.64%. Central bank policymakers are divided on the urgency of rate cuts, with the majority concerned about inflation risks while the minority advocates for deeper easing to spur investment and growth.
