During the opening lap of the Monaco Grand Prix, a massive crash involving multiple drivers occurred at the back of the grid. Kevin Magnussen's reckless overtake attempt on Sergio Perez led to a collision, which also involved Niko Hulkenberg. Fortunately, all drivers involved walked away from the incident. The crash resulted in the need to airlift Magnussen's and Perez's cars from the track, with damage forcing Esteban Ocon to retire after a failed overtaking move on Pierre Gasly, who continued to fight for points as the only Alpine driver.
