In June 17, 2024, the Criminal Bureau's Second Team aggressively investigated online gambling crimes, targeting a large-scale gambling group that operated gambling websites. After a 3-month investigation, a joint operation with Miaoli County Police and Taichung City Police led to the raid of an office in a commercial building in Taichung. They arrested Chen and 7 others, seized over NT$230 million in gambling funds, computers, phones, surveillance equipment, and bullets. The well-organized and sophisticated group was found to run the 'AF8 Entertainment City,' later rebranding as 'AF Entertainment City' to evade detection. The group was involved in online gambling activities like baccarat and sports betting. Authorities emphasized on the addictive and harmful nature of online gambling and will continue to crack down on such activities.
