A major system failure at a telecom room in North Changhua caused the inability to make calls from indoor telephones, resulting in either voicemail or disconnected lines. Emergency lines such as 110 and 119 for police and fire departments were also affected. Despite concerns about not being able to report emergencies, there were luckily no incidents during this downtime, and the issues were resolved shortly after midnight. Authorities attributed the problem to a telecommunication system failure by Chunghwa Telecom.
