In June 2024, the opening of the first international brand hotel, Gloria Manor at Sun Moon Lake, has sparked a competitive era in accommodation. With four out of six chain hotel brands setting room prices averaging over ten thousand, including The Lalu, Yun Pin, and the upcoming Han Lai and Jin Yue Jin Xiang Hotel. Despite challenges such as the absence of Mainland Chinese tourists and criticism of high accommodation costs for domestic travelers, Sun Moon Lake's picturesque landscapes continue to attract high-end tourism, leading to a surge in branded hotels. Each hotel has its unique selling points and positioning, with The Lalu, Yun Pin, and Jin Yue Jin Xiang targeting high-end clientele with room prices ranging around 15,000 NT, while Han Lai recently adjusted their pricing strategy to nearly 30,000 NT.
