The Judicial Evaluation Committee has announced that there are vacancies for Chief Prosecutors at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office and the Kaohsiung High Prosecutors Office, with 9 candidates competing for the position. Following a 5-hour discussion, the committee has confirmed 4 finalists, including former Investigation Bureau Director Wang Chun-li. The selection process is a crucial decision for the highest office in the country concerning political and economic cases, underscoring the importance of the position's integrity. Despite former President Lai Ching-te's swift dismissal of Wang Chun-li upon taking office, Wang is considered a strong contender. However, the final decision also hinges on political dynamics and trust levels, with speculations that current Prosecutor General Zheng Ming-chien might have a significant role in the selection process as well.
