On June 17, 2024, Lin Jianfu, Chief Economist of Chinatrust Financial Holding and lecturer at Chinatrust Institute of Financial Management, discussed the recent decision of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) to maintain the policy interest rate. The Fed's optimistic outlook on the economy is reflected in its unchanged projections for the US fourth quarter GDP growth rate of 2.1% and unemployment rate of 4%. Despite the slow cooling of inflation rates and the tightening of long-term interest rates, the US economy remains robust. The ample market liquidity and effective management of market funds by the Fed indicate that a significant decline in the stock market is unlikely in the near term.
