Zhuo Rongtai confirmed that Wu Xiumei will leave office, with Chinese Medical Institute Pharmacist Chang Shenghong taking over from July 1. Prime Minister Zhuo Rongtai praised the professionalism and diligence of former Food and Drug Administration Director Wu Xiumei over the past seven years, urging the new director to actively fulfill responsibilities in food safety and drug management. Amid recent food safety and drug shortage incidents, Wu Xiumei was originally scheduled to complete her term next year but reports surfaced of her ending her seven-year tenure as director by the end of June. Minister of Health and Welfare Shiu Taiyuan denied the rumors, as Prime Minister Zhuo Rongtai emphasized the importance of sound personnel planning and hoped for continued contributions to national service and policy development.
