A study by the University of California Los Angeles reveals that clinic closures after the Dobbs decision, along with confusion about emergency contraceptives possibly being abortion drugs, have resulted in a sharp decrease in contraception prescriptions in states with strict abortion bans. The study found a significant drop in prescription rates in states with restrictive bans post-Dobbs in June 2022. There were notable declines in obtaining emergency contraception via prescription, with drops exceeding 70% in some states and a 60% decline in Missouri. Public confusion and misinformation may have hindered access to contraception, impacting women's reproductive health choices.
