Congo lawyers have presented new evidence obtained from whistleblowers, raising concerns about Apple potentially sourcing minerals from conflict zones in eastern Congo. The lawyers are urging Apple to address questions regarding its supply chain in the country and are exploring legal options, with Apple yet to respond to the allegations. The law firm investigating claims of minerals being smuggled out of Congo through neighboring countries has emphasized the urgency for Apple to provide substantial answers. Apple, on its part, has previously stated that it does not directly procure primary minerals and has conducted audits on its suppliers, with a report from last year indicating that no smelters in their supply chain have financed or benefited armed groups in Congo or neighboring nations.
