In Taichung Metro's Green Line last May, a construction crane from a nearby building fell and fatally hit a metro car. The National Transportation Safety Board conducted a year-long investigation and released a report detailing the incident, pinpointing failures on the part of the metro system. The investigation reconstructed the 49 seconds leading to the accident and highlighted five emergency measures that failed to prevent the tragedy, including issues with communication, manual controls, and emergency stop mechanisms. Recommendations were made to improve emergency protocols and personnel training to prevent similar incidents in the future.
