Consumer Finds Foreign Object in Lunchbox, Company Offers Compensation

Reported 7 months ago

A consumer purchased a convenience store lunchbox and found what appeared to be foreign fibers resembling dishcloth scraps inside, prompting the consumer to report to the Food and Drug Administration. The food company, upon being contacted, offered to compensate three times the price of the lunchbox at 300 NT dollars, without explaining the presence of the foreign object. The consumer expressed dissatisfaction with the company's attempt to settle the issue with money. According to consumer protection laws, in cases of significant harm caused by operators, consumers can demand punitive damages up to three times the amount, pending administrative investigation and penalty amounts from 60,000 to 200 million NT dollars based on the inspection results.
