Consumer Sentiment Towards Home Buying Falls to All-Time Low: Fannie Mae

Reported 6 months ago

Fannie Mae's new survey data revealed that 86% of consumers feel it's a bad time to buy a house, marking a significant increase from the previous month, while the Home Purchase Sentiment Index dropped to an all-time low of 69.4. Only 14% of consumers believe it's a good time to buy a home, and the perception of tight affordability remains. Fannie Mae expects a slight improvement in for-sale inventory and small sales activity increases by year-end, as sentiments reflect frustration with the lack of purchase affordability and unmet expectations of declining mortgage rates.
