Professor Qu Zhaoxiang of the Department of Political Science at National Taiwan Normal University commented that President Lai Ching-te has faced challenges internally and externally since taking office, without the typical 'honeymoon period' enjoyed by past presidents. Being a minority government, President Lai has not played a conciliatory role, leading to a confrontational political environment that may negatively impact future governance. Suggestions were made to reduce political friction for better governance, both domestically and in cross-strait relations.
