An exposé by Mirror Weekly revealed that Taiwan's representative to the U.S., Yu Da-Chuan, and his wife have been allegedly misusing public funds for extravagant diplomatic activities, with Yu's wife reportedly treating embassy staff as servants by demanding them to chauffeur her for shopping trips and displaying a condescending attitude towards colleagues. The Yu family reportedly used official embassy cars for personal purposes, such as family outings, and made taxpayers cover expenses like fuel and maintenance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is investigating the claims, with government officials promising transparency and accountability in handling the issue.
