Controversy Continues over Tournament Fees: Men's Basketball Maintains NT$5,000, Women's Basketball in Communication

Reported about 1 year ago

During the ongoing Jones Cup women's basketball tournament, the dispute over tournament fees between men's and women's basketball teams remains unresolved. With female players receiving NT$3,000 per game compared to NT$5,000 for male players, the Chinese Taipei Basketball Union faced protests from the women's team, leading to a 'wear black' protest during the Taiwan Blue-White matchup. The union stated its stance of supporting both men's and women's basketball and is in communication with the women's team regarding the fee differences. The men's team has vowed to support the female players by accepting the reduced NT$3,000 fees if the decision is upheld by the union. Despite the ongoing controversy, the union affirmed that the commitments made for the Jones Cup tournament will not change.
