Controversy over Accusations of Being Set Up for Fraud Leads to Legal Actions for Chen Yi's Online Post

Reported about 1 year ago

Chen Yi, a popular internet personality, was accused in an online shopping fraud case but was not indicted by the Taipei District Prosecutors Office due to insufficient evidence. Chen Yi later posted on Facebook expressing suspicions of being framed, leading to legal actions from an individual surnamed Ye for alleged defamation. However, the prosecutors found no criminal intent from both Chen Yi and Ye, and the case was closed. The initial fraud victim accused Chen Yi of fraud as the money was transferred to her account, but prosecutors believed her account was used without her consent and also decided not to press charges. Chen Yi's online posts and Ye's comments led to legal actions, but both were not prosecuted as their statements were considered reasonable expressions based on their personal perceptions.
