Controversy Over Closure of Eastern Design University Erupts as Staff Accuse School of Withholding Wages and File Lawsuits

Reported over 1 year ago

Eastern Design University, listed as a school under special guidance due to improper faculty quality in March of 112th year of the Republic of China, voluntarily applied to cease enrollment for the entire 112th academic year and is set to officially close by July 31 this year. However, recent allegations from staff claim that the school has been withholding wages. To address the wage deductions from 110th year, staff members have formed a self-help association and filed lawsuits against the school, arguing that the deducted amounts should be returned upon the school's closure. The Ministry of Education has responded, stating that agreements to reduce academic research fees were made with staff members from February 1 of 110th year to January 31 of 112th year and the issue is now under legal proceedings.
